What is a Native Plant Sale?
The Pierce Conservation District's Annual Native Plant Sale is a nonprofit sale run by the Pierce Conservation District (PCD). The mission is to get environmentally friendly plants —Native Plants— to our residents as easily and cheaply as possible.
Please note, to the best of our knowledge the information we have provided in our descriptions of the plants available in our native plant sale is accurate. We want to stress that our plant descriptions are only meant to provide general information. It is absolutely necessary that you consult with a medical health practitioner, or edible/medicinal plant expert before ingestion, topical, or any other application of plants- whether that be for medicinal purposes, as food-source, etc. It is important to know how to properly harvest and prepare plant materials as this can determine the difference between a plant part being toxic or edible. Be aware that allergic reactions can occur-so while a plant may be safe for one individual it may be harmful to another. Additionally, it is important to know if a plant has been sprayed with pesticides or herbicides as that can also cause allergic or toxic reactions.

Why Native Plants?
If you are on this website buying native plants, chances are you don't need to be told why you should be interested. However, we’re going to anyway. Here are some reasons why we all love native plants!
- They’ll make your life easier. Soil and climate conditions in the PNW can be a challenge for plants that have been introduced from other regions. Native plants are already adapted to our climate and soil, so you don't need to worry about them having as hard of a time as non-native plants might.
- They're beautiful and attractive to pollinators. Part of the decline of native bee populations is due to the destruction of habitat and loss of biodiversity- therefore, less pollen to gather. By planting native plants, and creating a more natural landscape, you’re creating habitat for bees to forage and spread pollen!
- With the help of the PCD's Annual Native Plant Sale you can fill your yard with plants for a fraction of the price if you were to use non-native plants. (If you have ever had a deer munch your $25 fig tree to the ground, you understand).
- The Puget Sound will thank you. Grass lawns tend to shed water, along with all the chemicals and pet waste, right into the storm drain. Native plants can help stop some of that water, chemicals, and waste from ever reaching the sound.
The Details

Pre-orders will be taken until January 15th, 2026. Plants are sold only in bundles of the listed quantities. Online order payments can only be accepted using debit/credit card.
Plants purchased through the PCD's Native Plant Sale are bare root, plug stock, or live stake, which means they do not come in pots or burlap bags. The plants are harvested from the field in winter when dormant, and at a time when they are ready to be replanted.
These conservation-grade plants have well-developed roots and are easy to handle, transport, and plant. We strive to provide large quantities of high-quality, affordable trees, shrubs, and ground coverings. The plants are primarily grown or brokered from the Washington Association of Conservation Districts' nursey located in Skagit County. Also, be sure to check out Woodbrook Nursery's selection of potted native plants, available at our walk-up sale event.
